| Chat Box Rules ~Don't be the one to get banned!~ --------------------- I'm sure you all saw this thread coming. I mentioned around the start of the chat that I would later make rules for it, as well as requirement lists to gain a higher position. Well, it's later, and the time has come to get a solid grasp on how the chat must and will work.
Universal Rules These rules apply to everyone in the chat, regardless of rank. If you break these rules, there will be consequences. We are generally forgiving, but you still must keep yourself aware of what can get you into trouble.
1.) Leave the spam at home - For those of you who don't know what spam is, I'll give you a quick description: they are Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages. Self-explanatory, these messages have no purpose towards the chat, have no furthering to the discussion, and just generally are used to bug people. Double-posting is counted as spam in a lower form. I trust that people out there will avoid continually spamming the chat. Every spam message you send will earn you 1 "spam point". These "points" will accumulate and result in punishment when they reach certain numbers. Here's the list of spam punishments: 5 Spam Points - 1 hour ban 10 Spam Points - 5 hour ban 15 Spam Points - 10 hour ban 20 Spam Points - 24 hour ban 25 Spam Points - 1 week ban 30 Spam Points - Permanent ban
2.) Keep your harassment to yourself - If you give someone a hard time, it might be understandable. If you begin to harass people, we won't be so understanding. Harassing other users is a quick way to get your *** kicked from the chat, or even banned altogether. This rule is a bit more free-form, but don't try to abuse that fact. Me and the other staff members are very capable of determining when someone is harassing other users. It's not difficult. Based on your actions, we will give you a fair consequence. Don't try to sweet-talk our mods, either. We don't fall for that crap. And if you try, you'll be set for a much worse punishment.
3.) You link it, we break it - This rule is somewhat arbitrary, as we both accept and disapprove of links. Here's what we mean:
-You can freely post safe links to the chat -You can post a link more than once if it is required -You cannot post links to another chat without permission -You cannot post unsafe (infected, broken) links -You cannot post links to sexual or spam sites -You cannot spam a link (Rule #1)
Make sure to remember these main points. Punishments for not following the rules are up to us based on the action(s) taken by the offending user
================================================ Still under development
4.) We won't appoint you, but you can get a free ban instead 5.) The ban-wagon is tough
Chat Staff Rules/Expectations This section of the rules applies strictly to chat moderators and owners, etc. If you do not follow these, you have a good chance of losing your position. Make sure you read up and understand what your duties are, and what you should avoid doing. 1.) Hubris hurts 2.) Demotions are very possible 3.)

| No posting links to other chats... So we can't have raid parties anymore? I mean, I guess we can just send the links through Private Chat... I'm guessing YouTube videos fall under approved links though.
As far as abusing powers, may I still hold Broly to a zero-tolerance policy?

anymore? I mean, I guess we can just send the links through Private Chat... Yes, send the links through Private Chat if you want or need to, they are no longer accepted on the main chatroom - Triforce Of Chozo wrote:

Because xat has a built in widget for YouTube videos, all YouTube links are acceptable - Triforce Of Chozo wrote:

I have to clean everyone's slates once this chat truly starts over again, so no. But considering how Rule #2 is enforced, it is still possible to give him an easy ban if he tries to loophole the rules.

So, how exactly does this work? Like, will messages be sent out to the offender, to let them know how close they are to a ban, or is it something only the mods and owners will know? Also, how long does each point last? Is it reset daily, or are they with your account forever?

They receive this to let them know that we are considering their posts as spam. If they continue to spam after receiving the message, then the actual Spam Point counting starts.

How do you keep track of these spam points? Are you going to contact chat moderators and ask about the points every few days? Will you keep a thread open so people can see how many points they have?

| For the moderators out there, do we PM them warnings or just lay it out in the main chat room (or both?). And I feel profanity should be addressed- is it allowed, in moderation or freely? Do we count TV curse words as offensive at all? | |

| I don't really see why we need rules like these. I mean its not like its a huge site and there are trolls left and right. Almost everyone was invited to come here and we kind of know they aren't a bunch of dicks so its uneccesary. | |

| I'm gonna have to agree with ItoI on this one. These rules seem pretty unnecessary. We have no problems with our regular members when it comes to spam or harassment. And as far as linking to other chats go, I don't think there should be a rule against it unless someone is advertising their chat, then that would be considered unacceptable. Btw i will spam the heman link till i die. | |

| DJ, I think that even if we're all invited, it's good to have the guidelines regardless. You never know what will happen in the future, so it's good to know exactly how to act immediately if someone were to start spamming. | |

Yeah, but spamming is the type of problem that any moderator could easily handle. Spam points are a bit much though. The guidelines to spamming should just be a couple of warnings then a ban if the problem continues. Adding points for spam is just complicated and unnecessary.

| We mostly play it by ear, in case you haven't noticed. A lot of our rules have higher aspirations for the chat/site than what we've currently achieved. Trust me when I say that they'll make excellent groundwork once we actually get this operation running publicly. | |
